woah...

a boat leaves for your destination every day and it's up to you to be on it.

cubbie blue

on Thursday, the Cubs brought Jeff Samardzija up from the minors to take Kerry Wood's place while Kerry recovers from a blister that won't heal.

Friday he got his first major league strikeout. Today, he got his first save.

Lou said "you can tell this man has played in front of 80,000 fans before" after Jeff's two innings on Friday. (Jeff is kinda used to that...since being Brady Quinn's favorite wide receiver a few years ago inside Notre Dame stadium.) today Lou said "We've been looking for one more good arm in the bullpen, and I think we just found it." "It was awfully impressive."

sweet!

time to pull out the credit card for the number 29 jersey!

take me out to the ballgame

today we spent the afternoon at the Silverhawks game. they played the Burlington Iowa Bees on a perfect day for baseball. we has a suite ... suite number 9 ... and a waitress to bring us stuff! talk about cool! a hot dog, a soft drink, some ice cream and a really good game...12 innings, Silverhawks win on a wild pitch and a sprint from 3rd to home. weeeeha!

more fun

Mom and Dad at the suite.

Jeff and Kendra and the kids came along.

the game

Uncle Rich stood up for the whole game, well, til it went into extra innings. i know he was excited to be in the ballpark and watching a game in person. his fingers were constantly keeping the score...tracking the ball and strike count.

dru has a new car!

two weeks before her 16th birthday and my niece has her own car! she has been saving for it for over a year so i am all proud of her. she is too. :)

Brilliant

He was brilliant. Completely brilliant. I am in sheer, jaw-dropped awe of his portrayal of The Joker.

No glint of the real Heath in there at all.

I felt completely submersed in the world of Gotham, altho there were a few times when it was the gorgeosity of Chicago shining thru (the building at the end of Navy Pier while the ferries were pulling away, the Prudential Building is always recognizable as Chicago Skyline, and i just KNEW there would be at least part of a car chase held under the "el").

Cool to see Lieutenant Gordon get upped to Commissioner. You just knew Harvey Dent was going to morph into Two-Face...the flash-forward was handled so WELL...and it was heart-breaking to watch. There was no sense of "comic-book" in anything. These characters inhabited their world completely. no wink or nudge.

This movie is worth every single penny it is raking into the box office.

Next on the list? The X-Files: I Want To Believe. David and Gillian slip back into the skins of Mulder and Scully and hopefully scare the living crap out of us.

Nicho is TWO today!

it looks like they were shopping when Tim sent this picture last night. he's changed sooo much in the few months since i've seen him.

now THAT'S a sweet boy!!

this is the second elimination round "the sweeper". contestants are standing on the podiums above the water. the big red sweeper goes around and the contestants need to jump over it, and don't fall off the podium.
i laughed my ass off!

my favorite photo

so far this spring and summer. the dew trapped on a spiderweb in the front yard.

love the poppies

took this in the sun today

american countryside

i spontaneously decided to check this place out today.

what??!?!? ME??!?!? do something spontaneous?!???

hahahahahaha...

it was pretty cool. i was looking for food: veggies, fruits, cheese, meats and the like. the place has that, but it has more little craft booths than fresh veggie vendors. Mom selected two GORGEOUS loaves of artisan bread, a French Peasant and a Greek Olive. they smell heavenly! i wanted to take some photos of the food all lined up, and was disappointed at the turnout. that's why you get the shot of the outside of the building and not a line of tomatoes gleaming under the lights.

i'll have to check out the market in the town in which i work. i hear that one is pretty awesome. i may be able to get the photos i envision, along with some yummy berries and maybe a zucchini or two.

the view from my desk

the kids, a reminder of love and a reminder that i am healthy and on the right path

i am officially a dork

a total dork. i took my disposable income, purchased a PlayStation 2 (the cheapest gaming console) and the latest Guitar Hero...Aerosmith.

i spent this disposable income just so i could pretend to play "Sweet Emotion." i guess one could say i AM playing "Sweet Emotion" on my black Kramer guitar-shaped game controller. it just seems a little goofy for a ** year-old woman to be holed up in the house attempting to be proficient on a fake guitar.

but bloody hell, it's a BLAST!!!

sarah marshall ... and marshall from HIMYM

i took a few hours this week to go see this movie...

holy crap, it was so funny. sweet, BRUTAL, and totally unexpected. Jason Segal(Marshall from "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS) is so vulnerable and open and believeable. and NAKED. oh-so fully-frontally nude.

Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, and the guy that plays Kenneth on 30 Rock are great. Mila Kunis is luminous, and Kristin Bell looks amazing.

it's gonna be out on video soon. see this movie!!!
