the day after

my 45th birthday!

i worked at the store yesterday, and encountered something curious. as i am working in the checkout lanes, there are occasional guests who, when writing a check, ask me for today's date. the number is usually a handful...up to only about 5. today, the number was that...fivefold. it got so silly...me answering "today's the 12th"...that i just had to giggle. i guess the universe wanted me to verbally acknowledge it was my birthday, because the last guest to ask, said..."are you sure...i thought it was the 11th." i replied "no, it's the 12th. it's my birthday!" she got all excited and wished me a happy birthday...and then...

the asking ended.

i also have a very special voicemail on my cellphone. it's my gorgeous nephew Mike...saying Happy Birthday Aunt Shelley...i love you!! bye!! :) he's sooo precious. i miss him desperately...along with his brother and sisters...and his mom...and oh yeah, his goofball dad.
